Definitions: Per-pupil educational expenditures adjusted for regional cost differences using the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Geographic Cost of Education Index. Beginning with 2006 data, the NCES Comparable Wage Index is used. Also, beginning with 2005 data, the U.S. average is calculated using an average of the states’ averages.
